Course Description:

You asked for a shorter race at Farmdale, CITRA delivers! Welcome to the inaugural Blue Chevy Trail Classic. This 10k’ish race will be the second CITRA race to held at the East Peoria’s scenic Farmdale Reservoir. For those of you familiar with the Farmdale Trail Run, we will be running a shortened course, and in an opposite direction. And for those that have been to Farmdale but haven’t seen the historic “Blue Chevy” on trail, we’ll make sure that you see it.

About the Park

Farmdale Reservoir is Army Corps of Engineers land east of Peoria and the manager there has allowed the creation of a very nice system of trails. The ~20mile trail system is an excellent mix of several creek crossings, fast open stretches and tight, twisty singletrack, with alot of vertical distance for you climbers.

This site is a normally dry reservoir and dam built by the Army Corps of Engineers for flood control on Farm Creek. The immediate value of this dam is to store flood waters that would otherwise flood parts of East Peoria, IL, which is just downstream from the dam. It is also part of the overall plan of the Corps of Engineers for flood control in the Illinois River and Mississippi River systems.
