In case you missed it, here's the latest message from IVS president Chris Dierker:

What a great week for running!  The various IVS Building Steam programs and the RCT / TEAM STEAM program runners and walkers are entering their final week of prep for Steamboat.  They've had a great Spring of running in the heat and the rain as well as the sunny days.  If you are planning to run or walk Steamboat and have not yet registered, make sure you register now as the IVS discount code expires tomorrow night.  To register, go to: www.steamboatclassic.org.

If you're not running Steamboat, we could definitely use your help, either this Wednesday night for packet preparation, on Friday afternoon at the Expo or Saturday morning on race day.  Lots of opportunities to help whether you are a first time volunteer or a seasoned Steamboat Classic veteran.  To sign up to volunteer, please go to: www.steamboatclassic.org and click on volunteer.

If you're running trails these days, CITRA, our Central Illinois Trail Running Alliancce has another great trail run coming up.  Don't miss out on the Indy 9ER at Independance Park in Marquette Heights.  Details are available at: http://illinoisvalleystriders.wildapricot.org/event-1953220.

Whether you run on the road, the trails or the track,  Hope to see you out there soon.

A photographer from the Peoria Journal Star was on site to take photos of the IVS Fun Run held on May 19th at Meinen Field (the track next to Shea Stadium).

These photos were taken during the first event of the evening.  IVS members and fun run guests walked a lap around the quarter mile track with Steve Shostrom (one of the founders of the Illinois Valley Striders).  This was followed by a 4 mile run which featured two loops through Bradley Park.  It was a beautiful day, everyone enjoyed the run and the opportunity to connect with each other.
